January Council Meeting
Hello Ringwood!
We hope that this message finds everyone well. We had a council meeting on Tuesday, January 17th. There wasn’t any old or new business but there were a few noteworthy items on the agenda.
Our auditor (Nisivoccia LLP), labor and employment attorney, and special counsel for 2023 (DeCottis, Fitzpatrick, Cole, & Giblin LLP and Cooper Levenson) were all reappointed. These professionals have proven to work well with the Borough and we have been very happy with their services.
We also entered into a shared service agreement with Pompton Lakes for stormwater system cleaning services for a daily rate of $1,500. There was also another shared service agreement that was approved with Wanaque Regional Valley Sewage Authority for the services of a Qualified purchasing Agent. Shared service agreements are a win-win for the Borough. We provide a service that we already have to another municipality or organization and this provides additional revenue for the Borough.
We are also happy to report that hunting and fishing licenses will be made available at Borough Hall in the future. This was a proactive effort to provide our residents with the ability to gain these licenses locally, especially since they used to be able to purchase them at Frank’s Tackle and Field, which has closed.
The next phase of the James Drive treatment plant has begun. In October 2022 all of the sewer mains except for 200 feet in a wooded sewer easement were videoed and cleaned out. The videos showed 20 areas where there were cracks and areas in need of repair. These repairs were approved to start.
One last item is that Skyline Drive will be closed on Saturday, March 25th from 12:30-2:30pm for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. If you need to access that road please plan accordingly!
As always, it is our pleasure to serve you and our community. As we have in the past, we will continue to always put Ringwood first. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Warm Regards,
Jaime Landis, Deputy Mayor
Michelle Kerr, Councilwoman
