December Council Meeting

Hello Ringwood!

We hope that everyone is well. We had our last council meeting of 2022. The meeting began with our Borough Clerk Nicole Langenmeyer reading the certification of election results from the County Clerk’s office. Councilwoman Michelle Kerr was then administered the Oath of Office and sworn into a one year term. Congratulations Michelle!

The Borough Manager had a lengthy year-end report detailing all the various activities that occurred throughout each department at Borough Hall. It is always exciting to hear all the great things that have been done in Ringwood throughout the year. I have always felt that one of the greatest challenges we faced was highlighting all the good that is done everyday. As a result, I am happy to see the Borough implement a Quarterly Newsletter for residents. This publication details all the happenings within the various borough departments and is another source of information available to the community. Our greatest source of information can be found within our award winning website. Many residents do not realize that our website is one of the most thorough and comprehensive websites around and as a result, has won accolades. Within our easy to use website residents can find all information including resolutions, ordinances, meeting minutes, recordings, etc. It is easy to search for any and all information. There is even a Report a Problem link that allows residents to report any issues and then goes directly to the department in real time.

The Manager reported that Phase 1 of the James Dr treatment plant was completed in November and work on Phase 2 will commence in January. The council also passed an ordinance regarding maintaining vacant residential and commercial properties within the Borough.

One of the first orders of business within the meeting was when Mayor Noonan read a letter that he drafted and sent to the Director of the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife seeking details about the killing of the bear cubs in town so he can report back to the community what is exactly happening with the investigation and the perpetrator. Currently the perpetrator is being charged with various game code violations and the mayor wants to know if there will be an investigation by the county prosecutor's office and what steps the state is taking to prevent him from doing something further.

There was a resident who was concerned about vandalism on October 30th. Mr. Heck asked our detective to look into the issues and contacted residents and a business owner. No one filed a police report. Mr. Heck reminded residents to call the police if anyone witnesses or needs to report a crime.

Another resident expressed concern that work had shut down on the Superfund site. For those concerned please see the letter attached from the EPA. They released this letter due to MISINFORMATION that was spreading in regard to the work delay. Please see attached from EPA.

As always, we continue to put community 1st in all our decision making. We are looking forward to a productive and successful new year as we work together to continue to make Ringwood the best town in the State of New Jersey!

Warm Regards,

Jaime Landis
