Jamie Matteo-Landis
Jaime and her fiance, Taylor Jennings, reside in the Stonetown area of the Borough with their three boys. Both Jaime and Taylor are life-long residents of Ringwood. Taylor is a volunteer fireman at the Ringwood Borough Volunteer Fire Company # 1 and a volunteer football coach for the Ringwood Rattlers. Her and her sons are members of St. Catherine’s Church.
Jaime is a 1997 graduate of Lakeland Regional High School and was a scholar, athlete, and student leader. She graduated from Rider University with a Double Major in Political Science and American Studies. She went on to begin a teaching career in 2002 within the Paterson Public School system, where she still teaches Special Education. Jaime earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from William Paterson University and has an additional 21 credits from Rutgers for a Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification. Jaime also works for the State of NJ as an Early Intervention Developmental Educator.
In 2017 Jaime was appointed to fill a one-year vacant seat on the Ringwood Borough Council. She was elected in 2019 to a four-year term where she is currently serves as Deputy Mayor. Jaime serves as a member of the Planning Board as well a member of the Fair Share Housing Committee. Prior to taking on the role of Deputy Mayor Jaime served as Secretary and then Vice-President of the Peter Cooper PTO where she chaired the Big/Little events, and co-chaired the Talent Show. During the Covid emergency, Jaime was also in charge of picking up all the adirondack chairs so our students at Peter Cooper had outdoor seating.
Jaime has also coached tee-ball and is still a current member of the Ringwood Ambulance Auxiliary. She is the Vice President of the Ringwood Regular Republican Organization.
Jaime is honored to have worked with Councilwoman Michelle Kerr on bringing Hometown Hero banners to the Borough. She is also working with the Councilwoman and a local resident on an anti-littering poster contest for school aged children in the Borough where winners will be displayed in our public library. Under Jaime’s leadership some of the highlights include Ringwood being ranked the 2nd Safest Town in New Jersey and the 16th Safest City in the United States of America. (Safewise 100 Safest Cities in the US, March 30, 2022) enacting a ten- ton weight limit restriction on Stonetown Road, bringing handicap accessibility at the Stonetown Ball Field, and a new Bocce ball court that is handicap accessible for our seniors and special olympic athletes.
