Digital Newsletter:

Skyline Lakes Drive – Multi-Way Stops:

  • Dynamic Traffic was hired to study various intersections on Skyline Lakes Drive to determine if multi-way stops would make some intersections safer for both vehicles and pedestrians.

  • Their recommendations include a multi-way stop control to be implemented at the intersection of Skyline Lakes Drive and Edgewood Road and Skyline Lakes Drive and Canterbury Road.

  • Dynamic Traffic also recommends reducing the size of the intersections at Skyline Lakes Drive and Canterbury as well as Skyline Lakes Drive and High Mountain Road.

Community Center:

  • As the Council knows, for a few years the Borough has been negotiating with St. Catherine’s Church to rent the Parish Center as an interim Community Center.

  • We are happy to report that we have reached a tentative agreement to lease the Parish Center for several years while we go through the recreation strategic plan that the Mayor and Council implemented at the August meeting.

Fishing/Hunting Licenses:

  • We have received approval from the Department of Environmental Protection to provide residents hunting and fishing licenses at Borough Hall.

  • Licenses are available at the Clerk’s office. Credit card payment is now available. Call 973-475-7100 with questions.

LOSAP (Length of Service Award Program) CPI Resolution :

  • Every year we budget to fund the length of service award for our volunteer members that dedicate so much time to serve our community.

  • On January 6th of this year, the local finance notice outlines an increase to LOSAP funding based upon CPI.

  • In the last several years, we haven’t used the total amount of money that we’ve budgeted for the LOSAP for our emergency responders. The council passed a resolution to raise their contribution to $1,329.83 for the 2023 calendar year as outlined in the local finance publication.

Our roadways:

  • Conklintown Road and Skylands Road have been recently paved. Stripping is anticipated in the next few weeks.

  • Phase II of our paving projects are scheduled for mid-October.  These streets include: Snake Den Road, Glen Road, and Old Road.  Our next project includes Skyline Lakes Drive, but it will be paved over the course of a few years.

  • The Borough is looking into getting a pedestrian crossing on Skyline Drive.

Other notes:

  • Councilwoman Kerr asked to start a committee at the August 2023 meeting to look at our current ordinance on having chickens on residential properties. The committee met, looked at chicken ordinances in neighboring towns, and reviewed all of the edits that the Health Dept, Zoning Dept., and the Planner suggested.  This ordinance is not ready for the public, but the goal is to make it more feasible for residents to have hens.

  • Councilwoman Baumgartner read a resolution condemning the attorney general and acting education commissioner for an outrageous interference in the governance of schools.  The motion passed.

  • Councilwoman Kerr stated that some residents have shared concerns with her about seeing people with out of state plates using our recycling center.  Our recycling center is here for our residents and the Borough. Ringwood will begin to check who is using our recycling center.
