Proclamations:

Swearing in of new Police Officers

Manager’s Report:

Every year during times of high demand, we use reservoir water to supplement our water supply. In warmer weather, we need to use reservoir water when the demand for water is higher.  We are currently providing routine maintenance on one well.  We anticipate finishing this service by next week. (Week of June 24th) Rest assured that it is treated by DEP standards, but it does taste different.

  • Shredding event on June 8th was successful and 6,000 lbs were collected and will be recycled.

  • Cheerleading and youth basketball camps.   

  • Walking and pickleball for the seniors.  

  • Zumba and Yoga  

  • Adult pickleball and a boot camp exercise program 

  • Pickleball lessons are coming soon!   

  • The summer wellness challenge started yesterday which is a summer long program ranging from exercise to health education. 

We have been approached by Lincoln Park to share services of a health officer while their health officer is out on maternity leave. This will begin on June 26th and end in September, unless it is extended.

Ordinance No. 2024-#08 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 – TRAFFIC – SECTION 7-20 – STOP INTERSECTIONS – OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD TO CREATE A STOP INTERSECTION. 

Intersection of Stetson Rd. and Woodland Road.

New Business:

Ordinance No. 2024-#09 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28 – STORMWATER MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD REPLACING IN ITS ENTIRETY SECTION 1-11. 

  • Some of the major changes to our ordinance apply to the allowable methods when calculating stormwater runoff, new rainfall data, and requiring designers to use both current and projected rainfall data.   

B. ORDINANCE NO. 2024-#10 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 – TRAFFIC – OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD, COUNTY OF PASSAIC, STATE OF NEW JERSEY TO PROHIBIT THE PARKING OF INOPERABLE OR DISABLED VEHICLES ON ANY PUBLIC STREET OR STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY IN THE BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD.

Resolutions:

  • Seven liquor licenses were renewed and one of those licenses are pocketed.

  • 2024-131 Authorize to Defer Due Data to Third Quarter Taxes 

  • 2024-132 Approval of Chapter 159 - Clean Communities Grant $41,190.56 

  • 2024-133 Authorize Chapter 159 - 2021 Recycling Tonnage Grant, $16,319.10 

  • 2024-134 Contractor Payment Request Edward Drive Emergency Pavement Repair  

    • Water Main Break Repairs ended up being $14,000 over the budgeted amount since 300ft extra had to be paved. This was a total emergency repair amount of $94,403.25.

Other notes:

  • Our firefighters in Stonetown are getting closer to their 1,000 lb goal for collecting plastic film for a free Trex bench.  Plastic can be recycled here at Borough Hall during opening hours.

  • On Wednesday, June 19th, on PBS at 8:30pm, our Botanical Gardens will be showcased in a program entitled,”Treasures of New Jersey.”  We hope you can find the time to tune in!

  • This Saturday, June 22nd from 11-3pm at Hewitt School are demonstrations from volunteers.  This is hosted by our Ambulance Corps.

  • Congrats to all of our recent graduates from preschool to college! Happy Summer!
